On one of the hills that make up the city of Huelva is the Church of San Pedro, the oldest in the capital.
Built on the remains of an Arab mosque at the foot of the now-disappeared Huelva Castle, it is a Gothic-Mudejar style building whose construction dates back to the late 14th and 15th centuries, undergoing various transformations until, well into the 16th century, the only temple in the town capable of accommodating the population of Huelva was created.
Its current state is the result of extensions and renovations that span from the 14th to the 21st century.
