It was the first foundation of a convent in Huelva in 1510. The title given to it is Santa María de Gracia, composed by the Calzada Augustinians, originally from the convent of San Leandro in Seville and promoted by Doña Elvira de Guzmán y Maldonado, Countess of Niebla.
The original construction of the convent is Gothic-Mudejar and its construction materials are brick, wood and plaster, with few remains of its original design due to subsequent renovations, especially in the Baroque period.
