Living up to the title granted by Alfonso XIII, this theatre, born from the aspirations and desires of the Huelva bourgeoisie, was inaugurated on 30 August 1923.
A project by Pedro Sánchez y Núñez, it features a neoclassical style so in vogue within 19th-century architectural historicism and so deeply rooted throughout Spain for the construction of cultural buildings, especially theaters.
