Amidst stunning views of the former Concha II mine, the Basque Mining Museum (Abanto-Zierbena) houses one of the largest collections of mining tools collected from mountains and factories over the years.
The museum is developed as a space where different educational processes take place. Its main social mission is to facilitate physical and intellectual access to the objects it displays and their meanings . This mediating role can take many forms, some more academic and others more informal, some more intellectual and others more emotional, some compulsory and others voluntary, depending on the intentions and needs of the different types of visitors.
For all these reasons, the Basque Mining Museum team aims to communicate, inform, and motivate learning through the various cultural activities it offers. In this way, visitors are immersed in the universe of memories and experiences that have shaped the lives of many of the people who directly or indirectly lived through mining, creating a unique experience.
