The proliferation of stalactites and formations of all kinds makes Pozalagua a hypnotic place, a veritable underground cathedral . More than sixty years have passed since its discovery, and the cave continues to fascinate those who return to explore it.
The underground complex is spectacular. The tour takes you among columns, flowstones, and a dried-up lake, from which tens of thousands of eccentric stalactites sprout haphazardly, seemingly forming an endless coral reef—a forest in the Earth's depths. The route culminates at a viewpoint from which you can contemplate the grandeur and beauty of this subterranean corner in all its splendor. The temperature inside remains around 13°C year-round, so it's advisable to wear appropriate clothing.
Opposite the grotto rises the Pozalagua amphitheater , carved from the old dolomite quarry, with a capacity for 2,000 spectators. It is a regular venue for concerts, operas, and theatrical performances thanks to its perfect scale and acoustics.
