Busturia

Photo of a peaceful rural landscape. In the foreground, a meadow with tufts of dry yellow grass. Behind it, a mound with a farmhouse on it. Further back, a body of blue water with sandbanks, and in the background, green mountains blending into a hazy sky.

A quiet rural town overlooking the estuary's marshes. It is made up, as its name suggests, of five neighborhoods: San Cristóbal, Axpe, San Bartolomé, Paresi, and Altamira.

Busturia is home to some of the region's oldest vineyards, the royal road, the Madariaga Tower, which today houses the Ekoetxea Urdaibai (Euskadi biodiversity center), the BBK Klima center, San Antonio beach, the Chirapozu palace, and some of the routes in the Urdaibai trail network.
