Moon Cave

View on map

The cave sits below a restaurant of the same name, ‘La Cueva de la Luna’ (Moon Cave), located at Calle de la Luna 10. The cave is accessed from the dining room of the restaurant, requiring permission from the owner, as it is private property.

The building, which dates back to the 18th century, is in the same spot where the old Casa de las Torres was before. During the Civil War, it went unnoticed because it was boarded up, but later several underground galleries were discovered, which were used as a growing house for mushrooms. This cave, which is considered to be ‘millenary’, has a square floor plan with wide galleries and a vaulted corner. Various studies have linked this structure to the Templars, paranormal phenomena and the apparition of the Holy Cross to Cardinal Cisneros in Titulcia, before the battle of Oran.

Its mystical origin, together with the Templar symbols inside, including the cross on the dome, have attracted a lot of visitors in search of paranormal experiences, which are said to be experienced by 20% of visitors.
