Orusco de Tajuña - Nature and the Passion of Christ

View on map

Orusco de Tajuña is perched on a chalky hillside, surrounded by lush orchards and leafy poplar groves. From the road, it creates a vivid picture with its whitewashed houses, all facing the river plain and oriented to the east to get as much sun as possible.

Its narrow streets are the starting point for several pleasant walks, such as the path to the Hermitage of Bellaescusa, with its famous legend and ancient fig tree; the Fountains Route; the pine forest route to Valdilecha; the climb to the Cruz del Cristo (Christ’s Cross) to see Orusco and its entire river plain, or the path down to the River Tajuña to follow one of the most beautiful stretches of the Tajuña Greenway.

  • Passion of Christ Holy Saturday. Holy Week

This unique performance takes place in the streets, squares and the 4 stages set up in the grounds of the Culture Centre’s park, and all the actors are locals.

Viewed from the road, the municipality presents an evocative scene, with its whitewashed houses all facing the plain, oriented eastwards to make the most of the sun. Orusco clings to a gypsum hillside, surrounded by fertile orchards and leafy groves of poplars and weeping willows.
