Valdilecha - The Chosen Valley

View on map

It is well worth wandering through its steep streets, taking in the rural architecture, to see the Mudejar apse of the Church of St. Martin of Tours, which originally dates back to the 12th century. It is one of the few remaining examples of Mudejar architecture in our region, which is why it has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

Valdilecha produces excellent wines and the best olive oils, which you can try in the wineries and cooperatives in Calle Alcalá and Calle Mayor. You cannot possibly leave here without trying our ‘La Labrera’ oil, with the quality label ‘DOP Aceites de Madrid’, or the wines from our cooperatives.

Valdilecha has two lovely walking routes. One of them is around 4 km long, which runs through one of the greatest pine forests in the Las Vegas district (the route starts on the path behind the Culture & Sports Hall). The other beautiful route is the ‘El Trebolar’ route. This is 9 km long, and goes through scenery that will make you see why Valdilecha is known as ‘The Chosen Valley’ (starting in Calle Cta. de la Vega).
