Valverde de Alcalá is in the heart of La Alcarria of Madrid. A lovely walk to the La Oliva Fountain will allow you to enjoy the landscape of olive trees, grain fields and gypsum cliffs that define the colours of this land.
As you stroll through its streets, you will learn about the history of one of its most famous figures, the 18th-century composer Antonio Rodríguez de Hita, a native of Valverde de Alcalá. You can also discover its historical heritage deeply rooted in the countryside, such as the Los Ángeles Estate, the old Convent of Our Lady of the Angels, and its Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.

A lovely walk
- The La Oliva Fountain is a spring named after the place where it is located, a beautiful spot surrounded by olive trees. Centuries ago, this fountain was used to supply water to the Convent of Our Lady of the Angels, and was later used to supply drinking water to the whole municipality.
The place where it is located has been turned into an area for recreation and relaxation, with stone tables and benches. The residents of Valverde go here to celebrate some of their festivals, such as Correr el Hornazo at Easter.
