Tranquillity and Nature Villamanrique is a little haven of peace. It is yet another town in which time has stopped still in its whitewashed streets, where you can hear birds singing, roosters crowing and church bells ringing. Villamanrique is surrounded by the greenery of the River Tagus; a river plain landscape that can be seen from the Church square; the church with the quaint octagonal belfry.
The Estremera Canal waters the fields, replenishing these lands by running through almost 40 kilometres of irrigated fields. There is a 10 km stretch through these fields along the Estremera Canal Greenway that leads to Fuentidueña de Tajo.
Something else worth seeing along the river is the Valdajos weir, built in 1530 when Charles V ruled. This is one of the oldest dams on the Tagus, and there are also several pleasant walking routes along the Tagus starting in the River Park, which is also the starting point for the Eco Trail.

Our cuisine
In Villamanrique you can try two traditional desserts: puches and the hornazo cake, traditionally eaten at Easter. Potato omelette is famous here and even has its own day called Jueves de Comadre, on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday. You’re also welcome to spend time here around Christmas, when you can discover our Christmas markets.
