Description of the work:
This gray granite work stands as a powerful symbol against gender violence, using a material that traditionally evokes the funereal and cold, typical of funerary art. The choice of this rough, coarse stone underscores the seriousness and somberness of a deeply rooted problem in our society.
The composition is reminiscent of funerary monuments, alluding to the significance of this issue, suggesting that gender-based violence not only destroys lives but also represents a deep wound in social values.
The sculpture's base is a closed book titled "EDUCARE," which means "EDUCATE" in Latin. This book symbolizes oppressed education, immobilized by the structure that rises above it.
The imposing and oppressive shaft reflects how traditional educational systems, rather than liberating, have perpetuated the imposition of archaic values disconnected from current social reality.
At the apex of the work is a heart, a symbol of our collective humanity. However, this heart is chained and padlocked, representing the lack of authentic values in our society.
The Exhausted Heart exposes how, from an early age, we are instilled with outdated and distorted ideals, promoted by conservative sectors that do not reflect the needs or realities of our time.
At the foot of the book lies a key, the key to unlocking the lock that oppresses the heart. This key is modern and transformative education, an education that doesn't seek blame, but solutions. Only with an education aligned with current times—one that strengthens emotional intelligence, morality, ethics, and emotional responsibility—will we be able to free the heart and build a more just society free of violence.
EDUCARE is not just a sculpture; it's a call to action: for you, for me, for all of us. The solution is in our hands, and it lies in opening the book of education and freeing our hearts from the chains that oppress us.
