Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC)

View on map

It occupies the land of the Ansio valley, formerly owned by Altos Hornos de Bizkaia. It was inaugurated on April 21, 2005, with some of its details being completed later that year. Designed by two engineering firms, Idom and Sener.

It covers an area of 251,055 m2, of which 155,000 m2 are divided into six single-story, column-free pavilions thanks to a new construction system. The four smallest pavilions each exceed 15,000 m2.

Of the remaining two, number 4 stands out, called Bizkaia Arena, a venue that can host all kinds of events, including sports, theater, and music, with a capacity for 20,000 spectators. It has parking for 4,000 vehicles. It can be accessed by road or by metro, as the underground metro has a stop next to the arenas.
