Main street

View on map

All surviving historical documentation indicates the existence of two walls in the town. An inner wall surrounded the castle and military installations, and the other protected the civilian population's hamlet near the church. Both defenses had a moat and drawbridge, and in the case of this street, it appears to have been one of the exits to the Royal Road of Valencia, connecting the walled area with the plain.

The morphology of the houses on this street is that of narrow constructions adapted to the slope, with a side door and two floors, which in popular architecture is known as a one-story house.

Inside these houses there were courtyards with a cistern to collect rainwater, in order to meet the need for water.

Going up this street, we will reach an open space, the square of the church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
