On June 30, 1923, a new parish was created by the Cardinal Archbishop of Seville, Eustaquio Ilundain y Esteban, in the city of Huelva, in the Polvorín neighborhood.
On July 6, 1928, the first stone of the new parish church was blessed, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this devotion inspired by Saint Manuel González García.
The architect of this work was Vicente Traver Tomás.
This temple is the canonical seat of one of the most well-known and venerated processional images of the city of Huelva, the Virgin of Victory, who was crowned in 2012.
