The current market is the heir to the one that opened in 1866 and was to be integrated into the new Carmen neighborhood developing around it. Due to the unsanitary conditions of the former market, it was decided to build a new building, which will open in 2010, very close to the former 1866 building, with more accessible, spacious spaces and more hygienic conditions.
Its facilities are equipped with the latest innovations, making it one of the city's most important tourist attractions.
