In the Karrantza Valley, amidst the apparent tranquility of nature, panthers, lynxes, deer, kangaroos, guanacos... lurk. They are the inhabitants of Karpin Fauna, a sanctuary for animals that can no longer be returned to their natural habitat. All of them, victims of trafficking, illegal hunting, and abandonment, find a safe haven here.
The spaces found in Karpin are the following:
Animalia: This is the largest area of BBK Karpin Fauna, with facilities adapted and naturalized for the well-being of the animals, allowing them to hide, climb or take refuge.
Reptilarium : Reptiles from warm climates, which need temperatures above 25ºC, are housed in the Reptilarium, where the radiant floor constantly maintains the conditions for their well-being.
Terrasauro-Gastornisland : Terrasauro offers a journey back to the Jurassic period with a paleontological camp and life-size dinosaurs. Following their extinction, Gastornisland showcases the birds and mammals that inherited the Earth, the origin of large carnivores and herbivores. This themed area, separate from the visitor center, is located beneath the playgrounds and the bar to avoid disturbing the animals.
Dinotxiki: Next to the bar-restaurant, you'll find Dinotxiki, a recreational and play area for children to enjoy. There's also a second picnic and children's play area next to the "Palace" building, complete with a drinking fountain and plenty of tables.
