Building the farmhouses and tower houses that populate Enkarterri was no easy task. More than 3,000 nails were needed for each building, and they were manufactured here at the El Pobal forge . And not just nails: also plows, scythes, trellises... and even the swords with which feudal lords dueled.
Muskiz has kept the call of the forge (built in a beautiful spot on the Barbadún River ) alive since the 16th century. The Pobal can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, but on Saturdays at 12:00, the master blacksmith surprises us with a live demonstration that engulfs the old building in flames.
