The municipal hostel Korta Aterpetxea occupies a restored traditional building. The original Korta building was used to hold animals that strayed from the public mountains where they grazed and entered private or unauthorised public land, until their owners came to collect them after paying the fees and any damages. It also had a room with a set of stocks for shoeing livestock, especially horses.
After restoration, the Korta has become a modern, welcoming building for short stays, aimed mainly at people walking the Ignatian Way, the Camino de Santiago, or visiting the Asparrena area, which is rich in sports, cultural and mountain activities. It sits on the fourth stage of the Camino de Santiago through Álava and on the fourth stage of the Ignatian Way.
It is municipal accommodation for travellers, hikers and pilgrims. To enter, you must use the parkingverde.com app and the access code provided.
