Arcadi Blasco (1928-2013), a visual artist from Mutxamel, made an effort to activate Alicante culture through various initiatives, including ceramics. His best-known works are his urban sculptures, in which he transforms clay into evocative shapes and reliefs. Here we can see the Torre Vigía Fountain (2001). The fountain is a representative allegory of the numerous defense towers scattered along the coast and a symbol of harmony between the different religious faiths, represented by the four chapels located on either side of the fountains.
We also find the Almassera Mural (1999) located on El Fossar Street, where the old oil mill, owned by his family, was located.
Another of the works located in Mutxamel is the Guernica Mural (2009). Located inside the Manuel Antón School, it was created by students under Arcadi's supervision during his time there, leading various workshops.
Regarding the space where the Torre Vigía Fountain (2001) is located, it is worth noting that it plays an important role in the Moors and Christians festivals. It is at this spot that the traditional castle is installed and where the Embassies are held. On September 10, 11, and 12, these festivals, declared of Regional Tourist Interest by the Valencian Community, envelop the town in culture and, above all, emotion.
