This is a small park designed in 1913 by Emiliano Pagazaurtundúa. It was built on a beautiful sandy beach. The waves reached the foot of the cliff.
It is a botanical garden that recreates nature. It abounds with exotic species, plane trees, and conifers. It was designed with great luxury and attention to detail to satisfy the ostentatious desires of Bilbao's thriving bourgeoisie at the beginning of the 20th century, which had turned Portugalete into a spa town.
From the stately homes, steps led to Salto Beach. Today, these steps connect Doctor Areilza Park with Ellacuría Park, located above the former cliff.
