The Can Ratés (formerly Mas Poch) refuge tower is cylindrical and mellow with blind arches. It is attached to the farmhouse, at the vertex of an angle created by the porticoed gallery. This was the area that previously housed the stables and living quarters on the upper floor. This layout allowed for a large open space in the center, where the threshing floor was located. The topography provided access to a pond on a lower level via the courtyard stairs. The entire complex, including the pond (now a swimming pool), the living quarters, and the former stables, are now municipal facilities in Santa Susanna.
