Carmen neighborhood

View on map

The Carmen neighborhood is the authentic historic center of Valencia,

It is the living history of the Valencians.

It is named after the Church and Convent of Carmen Calzado,

also around the square near the convent.

It is in the Ciutat Vella district

and grew up between the two walls of Valencia,

the Muslim and the Christian.

The Muslim wall has disappeared,

but the Serranos Towers and the Quart Towers remain

to mark the boundaries of the neighborhood.

It is a bohemian territory full of street art,

where the most important museums are,

such as the IVAM , the MUVIM , the Center del Carmen or the Beneficencia.

The neighborhood is a labyrinth of cobblestone alleys full of secrets

where the beautiful Portal de la Valldigna awaits us,

the Plaza del Árbol, a century old,

or the tiny Cat House.

From the old neighborhoods on the outskirts

They go down streets like Roteros or Corona.

In the morning you can visit the famous Mossen Sorell Market,

that sells gourmet products .

We can also enjoy small shops

with centuries of history or the many terraces that there are,

where we can try the most typical tapas

and enjoy a good paella.

The Plaza del Tossal is surrounded by restaurants and cocktail bars.

It is one of the best places to enjoy the night.
