Pere Balaguer began building the Serranos Towers in 1392.
to defend one of the most used access points
from ancient Valencia.
They are a wonderful example of Gothic architecture.
In 1865 the city walls were demolished
and the independent towers remain.
They were used as a prison for nobles from 1586 to 1887.
Then the back was discovered
and now we can see 5 rooms with pointed arches and ribbed vaults
from the Plaza de los Fueros.
