Serranos Towers

View on map

Pere Balaguer began building the Serranos Towers in 1392.

to defend one of the most used access points

from ancient Valencia.

They are a wonderful example of Gothic architecture.

In 1865 the city walls were demolished

and the independent towers remain.

They were used as a prison for nobles from 1586 to 1887.

Then the back was discovered

and now we can see 5 rooms with pointed arches and ribbed vaults

from the Plaza de los Fueros.
