The 7th National Espardenya Competition "Francisco José García" is part of the Valencian Espardenyà Festival, held in Alzira, thanks to the collaboration of institutions, companies and businesses.

The contest was born as a joint initiative of Alzira City Council and Tus Noticias de La Ribera, highlighting a culinary reference point in the city.

The name and recipe of the contest are a tribute to the well-known restaurateur "Francisco José García," who served l'espardenya in his restaurant.

After the first competition in 2017, we are now in its seventh edition, making the Espardenya festival one of the culinary highlights of the Valencian Community.

The Plaza Reino was filled with people this morning, March 12th, at the Festa de l'Espardenyà in Alzira. Thirty professional restaurants participated in the 7th Competition, along with around 30 other associations from the city, who also prepared this traditional dish from Valencian cuisine.

Around 900 people were able to taste the traditional dish, and the associations in their respective locations also enjoyed it.

Together they have participated in a celebration that is consolidating and gaining both participants and visitors.
