How to touch the Arbulo Panel

You are standing in front of an information panel about the Church of Saint Martin of Tours in Arbulo. The panel measures 680 by 580 millimetres. It has two tactile areas: the bottom section and the right-hand side.

At the bottom, the name of the church appears in raised lettering and in Braille. It is written first in Basque and then in Spanish.

On the right-hand side, you can feel a representation of a mural painting located inside the church. The image shows two animals painted in reddish tones on a light-coloured wall. At the top right, there is a mammal shown with a rough texture. You can tell it has fur on its body. It is facing left, and by touch you can locate its four legs, tail, and eye.

At the bottom left, there is a bird. It is shown with a vertical-line texture and is also facing left. By touch you can locate its two legs, eye, and beak.

Below the painting there is a legend in Braille, in Basque and Spanish, explaining what each texture represents.

On the right, there is a raised QR code that links to the Map’s Voice platform, where you are listening to this audio.

Next, you will find the text shown on the panel: “The Church of Saint Martin of Tours in Arbulo is an impressive building, constructed mainly in the 16th century. However, its chancel preserves the original wall of the earlier Romanesque church, where the red paintings that once adorned it were recovered in the early 21st century.”
