28. "Loneliness in Rural Areas" by Nerea. 2022

Description of the work:

The work aims to depict how depopulation affects rural areas, specifically their older residents and populations. The mural features a grayscale portrait of an elderly woman wearing a black headscarf, set against a white background surrounded by various colorful flowers.
Eyes full of life and experience, enclosed in a body withered by time, observe the visitor with a sweet and penetrating gaze. A woman's face, typical of any town in the desert of Spain, makes us reflect on the loss of population without generational replacement, as well as the loss of services; also on the loneliness of the elderly in these small rural towns, who suffer the same needs as the rest of the city dwellers.
On the right appears the phrase:
“Stop for a second and look at me closely, I offer you that time of LIFE”

Nerea was born in Zaragoza in 1994. She has loved painting since she was a child, but it wasn't until the pandemic that she started picking up pencils again, focusing on portraits on paper.
Her beginnings in muralism began in 2022, guided by Dicka, who taught her how to use her first spray can, and since then they have not stopped painting together throughout Spain under the name Thelma and Louise.
