32. "Eclipse of love" Gabi More. 2022

Description of the work:

The work is part of a group of pieces produced in the gallery under the auspices of the State Pact against Gender Violence. The material is ordinary and the finish imperfect. I try not to alter the work of the stonemasons who squared them, with respect and without modifying anything as a tribute to these artisans who came before us. The smallest one forms the base, close to the ground, without taking height, without ostentation, leaving the spotlight to the one it supports.
Meaning of the standing stone:
On one side we can see hands in relief, inscribed in a heart, held in a clear gesture of friendship.
On the other side, at the top, you can see a handprint in bas-relief. Below, the symbols of women and men are superimposed in relief. Since prehistoric times, humans have left their footprints on stone walls. This footprint is intended to commemorate and denounce the violence that men have inflicted on women throughout human existence.
At the bottom there is an exercise in Alchemy.
The symbol of woman, known as the mirror of Venus, formed by a circle with an inverted cross at its base, is the hieroglyph "Arj" meaning "life." It symbolizes women. It represented the goddess Venus, an allegory of beauty and love. It is said that Venus carried a copper mirror with her. In alchemy, Venus is associated with copper.

The symbol for man is made up of a circle and an ascending arrow, ready to be thrown. It was the graphic representation of Mars, the god of war in Greco-Roman mythology. Mars carried a shield and a spear. In alchemy, Mars is associated with iron. They are superimposed to form the symbol for PERSON, with no one above the other. They say that when the planets align, miracles occur. Let's hope that this is so, that society as a whole matures, and we never hear of another case of gender-based violence again.
