Regional Tourism Office (Amestoy Park)

View on map

The Regional Tourist Office is located in Amestoy Park, a must-see for first-time visitors to the city who want detailed, up-to-date information on the most iconic places to visit, as well as on activities and events taking place during their stay.

The old park underwent a major renovation that was completed in 2011, although several subsequent works were undertaken to eliminate architectural barriers, including the replacement of part of the cobblestone pavement and the construction of a ramp.

It's one of the busiest areas of Castro-Urdiales, so in early 2020, it was chosen as the location to install large letters bearing the city's name. Located on the seafront of the park, they were designed in green and white, as these are the colors of the Castro flag.

The waterfront affords a glimpse of the magnificent modernist facades of several of the buildings on Avenida de la Constitución. The most characteristic feature is the glass balconies, a very common sight in Cantabrian cities. Among these, the Salvarrey family home stands out, designed by Achúcarro and overseen by Leonardo Rucabado as master builder.
