The museum opened in 1973, providing the city with a cultural space displaying everything from archaeological finds from Huelva's prehistoric period to the latest artistic expressions of the 20th century, with notable works by Daniel Vázquez Díaz and José Caballero.
It contains two sections: a notable archaeological collection, highlighting Tartessian finds, and a Fine Arts collection from the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville.
