Old Zafra Station

View on map

The station was part of the Zafra-Huelva line, initially awarded to the Sundheim and Doetsch companies, and opened in 1889 by the Zafra-Huelva Railway Company, its final owner. It was built on the outskirts of the town, so a new focus of urban development developed around it.

The remaining building now belongs to the Andalusian Regional Government, as the station was finally closed in 1976. Its style is vaguely reminiscent of Neo-Mudejar, and these offices were built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Discovery. They were restored in 1987 by architects José Álvarez Checa and Ángel López Macías.
