Calvary Hill

View on map

Calvary Hill is a towering spur of limestone rock that rises above the west of the town of Belmonte de Tajo, presiding over the headwaters of the Arroyo de la Veguilla. After being remodelled, it is now a natural viewpoint from which you can admire a panoramic view of Belmonte de Tajo. Here ends the Procession of Silence on Holy Thursday, which features the images of the Holy Christ of the Flagellation, the Crucified Christ, and Our Lady of Sorrows. The procession begins at the parish church, passes through various streets of the town, and concludes at Mount Calvary.

An imposing limestone rock spur where major celebrations take place, such as the Living Passion organised on Good Friday. Now remodelled, it serves as a natural viewpoint.
