Perhaps the mysterious empty tomb of a knight from the Order of Montesa, who went by the name of Francisco de Collantes, is reason enough to visit this town. This man, whose tomb remains empty, was the protector of the town, murdered by the townspeople and later venerated, as his body was found incorrupt. Around his empty tomb stands the Church of St. Dominic of Silos, burnt down during the Civil War, which explains the mix of architectural styles.
On the other side of the square is the Palace of the Marquises of Mondéjar, whose simple, enormous facade bears witness to Corpa’s eminent past. History speaks of its rich waters that filled palaces in France and the entire House of Austria, from Philip II to Charles II. There are still several fountains in the town that provide water along pleasant walking paths.
