Fuentidueña’s glorious past can be seen in the beautiful coats of arms of its manor houses, with their white walls, which you will discover as you wander its streets. The town’s intriguing Clock Tower particularly stands out, with one of the oldest mechanisms in the Madrid Region.
From the hill where the mighy Castle of Los Piquillos rests, you can enjoy beautiful views of the valley of the River Tagus that waters the lands of Fuentidueña de Tajo. We recommend going down to the romantic 19th-century iron bridge that crosses the Tagus, over which the restored Cañada Real Soriana Oriental drove road goes. Once a path for Merino sheep, it is now a path for cyclists.
Join us in celebrating our most famous festivalss
- “The Procession of Our Lady of La Alarilla Second weekend of September.
Fuentidueña hosts a unique procession, which has taken place for over 150 years. The festival was declared a Regional Tourist Attraction in 2001 and a Cultural Heritage Asset in 2022: La Procesión de la Virgen de la Alarilla (The Procession of Our Lady of La Alarilla), during the second weekend of September. At nightfall, the Virgin Mary ‘boards’ a boat decorated with lights and she is taken down the River Tajo, followed by her worshippers who swim and carry torches. There is truly no other procession like it in Spain.
Our Cuisine
Another top reason to come to Fuentidueña de Tajo is to enjoy our gachas de matanza, a dish made with flour and meat, or our ‘Hornazo’, a sweet cake topped with boiled eggs that is typically eaten on Easter Sunday.
