Hermitage of Our Lady of The Pear

View on map

The Hermitage of Our Lady of the Pear guards the figure of the patron saint of Valdaracete. Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, there is evidence of a baptismal font dating from 1820, which unfortunately has disappeared.

The building, made of stonework with ashlar blocks at the corners, features a single nave with a semicircular arch inside. On 30 April every year, the municipality celebrates a festival in honour of Our Lady of the Pear, which includes a beautiful procession from the hermitage to the church. At night, after the traditional fireworks display, the Mayos songs are sung to the Virgin Mary.

The hermitage is open to visitors, but visits must be booked in advanced through the Town Hall.
