Hermitage of St. Anne

View on map

The Hermitage of St. Anne, patron saint of Villaconejos, stand at the border of the town centre.

Its construction began in 1579 thanks to the donations and efforts of the locals. The original figure of St. Anne was lost during the Civil War, being replaced by this new one in 1940.

It has a simple square floor plan with a hipped roof made of wood and Arabic tiles. A portico with Tuscan limestone columns guards its doors, which were donated by the King in Aranjuez. The building was finished in 1749, when the figure of St. Anne was placed there.

Its brotherhood was created in 1920 and currently oversees its conservation. Every year, on 26 July, the patron saint festivities are held in honour of our patron saint St. Anne.
