Located between the Tajo and Tajuña river plains, Villaconejos has a distinct taste of olive oil, wine and especially melon, which are famous across Spain and have the Designation of Origin quality label. Melons are so important for Villaconejos, that it has its own melon museum and festival which is held on 12 October. Villaconejos guards places full of mystery like the Friar’s Cave, and almost moon-like landscapes, such as the Barranco de Villacabras ravine. As you stroll through its beautiful whitewashed streets, we recommend a stop at the ‘Cooperativa de Vinos y Aceites’ wine and olive oil cooperative, to taste the excellent products from this area.

Barranco de Villacabras Ravine Just 3 kilometres from the town, this is a beautiful spot where the main attractions are the caves and medicinal waters (used for skin conditions and as a laxative), together with a spectacular giant poplar tree that marks the entrance to the ravine.
