Melon Museum

View on map

The only melon museum in the world, opened in 2003, under the initiative of donor Fernando Agudo Platero with the support of locals from the municipality.

Here, you can learn about the whole process behind the star product from Villaconejos: its melons. From planting to sale, it covers each and every step of melon production. It also displays a range of farming tools, housing and photographs that detail the hard work of melon growers.

On 12 October the Fiesta del Melón (Melon Festival) is celebrated in Villaconejos, which honours the old melon growers and their way of life, when they returned to the municipality with their families after working on the crops for six months.

Free entry available. Check with the Town Hall.

Interior of the museum, open to the public since 20__, where tools and very evocative photographs are preserved, recalling the hard work of melon growers.
