The "Coastal Way" within Bizkaia comprises five stages. It begins in Berriatua and ends in the town of El Haya. Its passage through Barakaldo begins with the arrival at the Kastrexana neighborhood, where we cross the Devil's Bridge, built in the 16th century. Legend has it that a young woman sold her soul to the devil in exchange for a bridge that would allow her to cross to the other side of the Cadagua, where her beloved lived. As the bridge was almost finished, the young woman repented and prayed to the Virgin Mary; and when only one stone remained to be laid, the rooster crowed, marking the end of the night. Thus, the young woman's soul was saved because the bridge was not considered finished, but at the same time, she was able to cross it to see her beloved. Today, you can still see that this stone is missing from the bridge.
