Tradition has it that this hermitage takes its name from a miracle in which the Virgin Mary appeared over an olive tree. This work of architecture dates back to the early 16th century, and every 8 September a pilgrimage is organised led by the Hermandad de la Virgen de la Oliva (Sisterhood of Our Lady of The Olive Tree), which is made up only of women.
