Bellver Castle is Palma's rooftop terrace and therefore offers one of the best views of the entire bay and the island of Mallorca itself, with a unique 360-degree panorama. Built for defensive and surveillance purposes, its location justifies this objective. But it's not just the panoramic view that justifies the visit; the castle itself, the only Gothic-style castle with a circular layout in Spain, boasts three original towers and the newly added Keep, which lend elegance to its conception as a stone fortress.
Its magnificent, well-preserved courtyard hosts various cultural events throughout the year. The Castle also houses the City History Museum, a perfect introduction to Palma's historical development under Roman, Muslim, and Christian rule.
