The Church of San Miguel (Sant Miquel), along with those of Santa Eulalia, San Jaime, and Santa Cruz (Santa Creu), is one of the four oldest parishes in Palma. It is dedicated to the patron saint of Miquel de Fabra, father confessor of King James I, the conqueror.
The parish church is supposedly located on the site of the main mosque of Madina Mayurqa, which stood during the Islamization of the island. Of the original Gothic church, only the façade remains, featuring a striking image of Saint Michael and a square bell tower. The church was rebuilt in the 17th century in the Baroque style.
This parish is also a sanctuary of the 'Mare de Déu de la Salut', patron saint of Palma and highly venerated by the Mallorcans.
