This corner of Palma is synonymous with the avant-garde. Fans of contemporary and 20th-century art should visit the Juan March Foundation Museum, which houses works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Juan Gris, Antoni Tàpies, and Miquel Barceló. Its permanent collection is regularly joined by temporary exhibitions, some of its own productions and others from its eponymous foundation in Madrid.
And if the contents are essential, the container is also spectacular, as the museum is located in a typical 17th-century manor house, Can Gallard del Canyar, which was acquired by the March family in 1916 to establish their residence in Palma. The building was renovated by architect Guillem Reynés at the request of the family. Its entrance and marvelous staircase are impressive: be sure to delve into one of Palma's magical worlds.
The Juan March Foundation Museum offers guided tours and workshops, as well as lectures, music concerts, and various educational activities for schoolchildren and university students. Don't miss a visit, as it's a breath of cultural fresh air between shopping trips and shopping trips.
