7. The Cathedral

View on map

Palma Cathedral, the 'Seu', is a visit in itself worth a trip to the city. It is, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular Gothic cathedrals in the world, boasting a simply extraordinary location, its silhouette reflected in the Parc de la Mar and completely defining the city's skyline.

Inside, you'll be impressed by its spaciousness and light, the result of the work done by Antoni Gaudí, who opened windows and moved choir stalls and altarpieces to transform this cathedral into an elegant, luminous, and open space. The main rose window, the largest in the Gothic world at 11 meters in diameter and featuring more than a thousand colorful pieces, contributes to this bath of multicolored light. The canopy or chandelier by Gaudí and Jujol, with 33 hanging points of light, deserves a special mention. And to its right, the legacy of another unique and universal artist: the ceramic mural by Miquel Barceló. A living, immersive, physical, monumental work (twelve meters high), Mediterranean, Mallorcan, of land and sea. Simply extraordinary.
