The Colón Market was built by the architect Francisco Mora Berenguer
at the beginning of the 20th century (20)
to cover the needs of the bourgeoisie of the time.
It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Valencia
and one of the most representative works of Valencian modernism.
It reminds of the constructions
that Gaudí made for Barcelona.
It was declared a National Monument.
The market is an open and bright space
thanks to the height of its ceiling
since it has many doors and steps.
It has 3 warehouses that occupy three thousand five hundred square meters.
At its ends, it has 2 brick and stone gates
in the shape of triumphal arches .
Its colorful facade has a great decoration,
which includes typical ceramic details from the area.
An artistic wrought iron fence surrounds the entire installation.
All its elements were restored with care and detail.
Every day it receives many visitors
looking forward to enjoying its terraces, which fill up quickly.
Especially on weekends and during good weather.
Today, the Colón Market houses famous shops,
such as Carnes Varea or Fina Fruit Shop.
But his greatest interest is the restaurants,
where Habitual by Ricard Camarena stands out,
Ma Khin Café or Manglano.
Also popular are the Market Beers,
Bocados cafeteria or Daniel's horchata stand.
The Baladre Florist was the first to set up shop in its courtyard.
Today it shares the space with the Vinos y Flores flower shop.
Many events are also held at the Market.
Mainly events related to gastronomy.
