Round Square

View on map

The Plaza Redonda is one of the most touristic places

and the most charming in the city, due to its curious construction.

It was built by Salvador Escrig Melchor in 1840

and was renovated in 2012.

If we enter on foot through one of the 4 streets that lead to the Plaza,

We find ourselves in a cozy and light-filled space,

which adorns a fountain right in the center of the square.

From the fountain we can see the bell tower

Baroque Rococo style of the Church of Santa Catalina,

that stands out above the 3 floors

of the circular building that is the Church.

On the ground of the square we can see a quote

from the novel “Rice and Tartana”,

by the Valencian writer Vicente Blasco Ibáñez,

where he talks about the Plaza Redonda.
