In the old centre of the town, the Church of Our Lady of the Star stands majestically. This 16th-century building combines ashlar blocks with masonry and has a bell tower featuring a cornice decorated with an elegantly carved ball trim. Once through the doorway, visitors are engulfed by the interior of the transept, crowned by a dome supported by Renaissance pillars. The enclosure, bathed in a soft light that filters through its large windows, houses a Baroque baptismal font and two 18th-century benedictory fonts that, through their stonework, tell of centuries of worship and ceremony. The Parish Archive, a custodian of time, keeps documents in perfect condition that narrate the sacred history of Belmonte since the 16th century.
